This is how it goes, baby

Sorry – I thought it would be apropros, since I’m about to talk music, and all, to use lyrics. What? I’m a nerd. Learn it, live it, love it!

Yeah. I’ve got to stop saying that, huh?

All right, be nice to me, I’m almost certainly (at this point) related to you, and I do an awesome hamburger, among other things.

So, in news of the day, I’ve been accepted as a contibutor at FasterLouder, which means I really have to get involved in their community. So I’m posting blogs about music over there – my bio is forty snarky words, you know? The blog is the place where you find out what my musical tastes are and just what a doofus I am. Instead of linking over there, I’m just going to post the thing here. Because I would have said the same stuff here, anyway. It’ll follow the jump, here, if you’re interested in what I have to say other places.

In other news, I have managed to blow up the dryer again, though I was careful and even changed the power point, in case that was the trouble (born optimist; see also: related to mum). Alas, boom-squiiieak, and the power is gone, and I’m typing to the ticking sound of cooling metal once again. Oh, and the fridge light is out. We’re convinced it’s still working, though, because the cheese and lettuce and stuff seems fine; plus, when I stick beer in the overhead freezer, it freezes.

Oh, yeah, it’s a barrel of sophisticated fun round here tonight. And on that note, I present to you “Misty Water-Coloured Memories.” (more…)

Shut up

Ok, here’s one for all the sports writers in the world, ever.

Stop using the word “resurgent” to describe Lleyton’s game. Ok, so the kid’s getting better. So he’s revitalised and refreshed and regenterated and rejuvenated (and while we’re on the subject, yes, I am familiar with the word redundant. Why do you ask?) and reborn and recalescent (yeah, go look that one up. I’ll wait. Yeah, I know it’s kind of a stretch) and reinvigorated and recrudescent (yeah. I’ll link to Big Red Online) and ready for the new season and really playing a lot better (I considered re-not-crap there), but dudes.

If I have to read one more article which not only simultaneously over- and mis-uses the word “the,” but also uses the word “resurgent” more than twice?

I’m flying all over the world to personally slap each and every one of you in the head with Roget’s.

Get it?

Nine Inch Nails, some more

I know a lot of people got email from me regarding this concert, and for that I apologise. I like to think that this review is the best of all the emails I sent, the one place I expressed myself most eloquently.

I think I’m wrong though; I confused “eloquently” with “pretentiously”. (more…)

Playlistism

So, I finally got around to actually going through all the songs Den put on my iPod.  Which has been… fun.  Aside from the whole “Den is even more obsessive than I am” thing, whereby he has every album and every single and every remix by his favourite bands, it’s been a veritable cornucopia of laughable stuff.  I present for you here the best of all that is funny, sad, or just plain scary in Den’s collection.

Danni Minogue – before she got all remixy and cool in Britain – he’s got her very first album, Love and Kisses, right here.  And he ripped it onto his computer.

Gary Glitter – it’s just one song, but it’s there.

Lordi – you may remembe them as the zombie-esque boys who won Eurovision last year.

Elton John’s Princess Di Candle In The Wind – doesn’t even need a comment, does it?

Oh, yeah, hi

Sorry, got distracted for a minute or two, there. I’ve been a little remiss in posting my reviews here, so I’m going to be updating that today.  And, ta-dah!  I have!  See below.  It’s the two most recent.  I think I am still missing a few from the festival, but it’s going to do for today.  I’ve already been more tech savvy in the last five minutes than I’ve been in the last five years, so don’t go nagging me.

In Super News, I’ve got an iPod.  It has many, many songs on it.  No, not just the many, many songs Benny loaded into it the night we Faux Birthday’d.

All the songs Dennis owns.  This lifts my song total from 740 to somewhere in the region of 4400.  Hee!  4400 songs!  Awesome!  Of course, I’m still going through a lot of them, figuring whether or not I love them or whether they’ll be joining the Dylan in the delete pile of doom.

Grin.  That’s all folks, for now, because I need to get things ready and head on over to Den’s, where I’m housesitting and reorganising things that are, as yet, only in the sort of order that makes sense to a pregnant lady.

Den asked me last night, as a joke, if I could do the cds and dvds in Autobiographical order.  For them, not for me.  I didn’t like to say, but you know what?  I can probably do more than half of them that way.  Not that I will.  My crazy system is now, as it has ever been, the alphabet.

Smile.
